University of Georgia Director of Athletics Damon Evans was inducted into the Boys and Girls Clubs of America's Alumni Hall of Fame on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, for his years of support of America's youth. Evans received the honor at the Chairman's Dinner, which was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta. Also being honored was The Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, founded by former baseball great Hank Aaron. Aaron was on hand to accept the Chairman's Award on behalf of the organization.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of America has hosted the gala annually for more than 20 years as recognition of individuals and organizations that have positively impacted children's lives. The event was emceed by radio personality Arlen "Griff" Griffin and included 50 youths performing the Be a Kid Again! Club Experience. The theme for the evening was Start the Story... Be the Difference.
The event was attended by Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens staff, Board members and Club members, pictured at right.
